XitNotes Help
XitNotes lets you migrate your Lotus Notes 5
(or 4.5 or 4.6 with Notes 5 client) and above mail to Microsoft Outlook/Exchange.
HELP
You must have
the following installed on your PC to run XitNotes:
- Outlook 97 or above
- and Lotus
Notes 5 or above (client, server not mandatory)
You
can not convert files if you do not have both programs loaded.
Don't have Lotus Notes?
You must have it. For evaluation you can
download a fully functional non expiring trial copy of the
Lotus Notes Client software from IBM at
www.lotus.com in the
Trials and Betas section. There is no software available that will convert Lotus
Notes files (NSF Files) without Lotus Notes loaded.
Where to find help?
Please see the help menu in
XitNotes for full information on how to use XitNotes
including how to register mailboxes etc.
Installing
After downloading the
XitNotes zip file (compressed file) it may need to be
extracted to a temporary directory depending on your version
of WinZip or operating system. You need Winzip to extract
it. If you have XP it will understand the zip file and you
may be able to copy the files to a temporary directory.
Once you have done that you need to run the setup.exe
file. There is more than one setup file but only one
setup.exe (has a little blue computer icon). It won't
hurt to try and run the others as only the setup.exe will
run.
Install XitNotes to your Lotus Notes
executable directory. The Lotus
Notes executable directory is the directory you will find
Notes.exe, notes.ini, nnotes.dll and the many other files
XitNotes requires. If you can't do that you need to add the
Notes executable directory to the Windows Path (See
environment variables in windows)
Testing
XitNotes
There is an option called
Subfolder under the heading Outlook
Options which is set to to
No by default. To test XitNotes to make sure
you are happy with it you should write to a folder in
Outlook that is easy to remove (by deleting) as the
information exported in the test will not be useful for
anything other than testing. You can either create a brand
new PST file (with the "New/Attach" button) or you can write
to a subfolder in your existing Outlook Mailbox. If you do
that however make sure you have a backup for disaster
recovery purposes.
| XitNotes
allows you to move your Lotus Notes 5.0 or 6.0 mail files
to Outlook. |
