A friend of mine is losing his job but he would like to save his personal email and archives (I am not sure what an archive exactly is). I was wondering if there is a way I can store the files to another laptop. Also, is there a way to convert the files (so he can them in outlook or any other software)?

There are a lot of options. Notes has inbuilt exporting features. The
only issue is that none of those features support exporting
attachments. I am not aware of any programs that do this except for our
product MailExportWiz.
Are attachments important?
If not you could try exportwizLite (its free)
